Do konce roku 1880 k němu přibylo několik dalších poznámkových sešitů; čistopis pořízený Nietzschovým "žákem" Peterem Gastem byl nazván Die Pflugschar (Rádlo). Na první stranu své kopie vepsal Peter Gast slova: ,,Je tolik červánků, které ještě nezaplály. Rgvéda." Citát se Nietzschovi zalíbil natolik, že titul knihy změnil na Ranní červánky. Myšlenky o morálních předsudcích (Morgenröthe. Gedanken über die moralischen Vorurtheile). Kniha vyšla koncem června 1881 u Ernsta Schmeitznera v Chemnitzu. Roku 1887 opatřil Nietzsche neprodané zásoby předmluvou a nakladatel E. W. Fritzsch v Lipsku je uvedl na trh jako druhé vydání. Nietzschova kniha, silně ovlivněná jeho tehdejším nadšením pro Schopenhauerův pesimismus a hudbu Richarda Wagnera, se následně stává jedním z kanonických kulturněfilosofických textů, který po více než sto letech vychází v novém českém překladu.
