Primárním cílem knihy je retrospektivní pohled na Ateliér fotografie UMPRUM během let 2008-2016 za působení pedagogické dvojice Vajd-Alt. Jejich konceptuálně založená metodická umělecká praxe, reflektující režimy reprezentace ve fotografii, se projevila v přístupu k vedení ateliéru. Po osmi letech je nepřehlédnutelným epicentrem experimentů na poli české fotografie, proměňujícím krajinu současného umění. Zároveň se zde během tohoto období soustavně usilovalo o nalézání odpovědi na postavení fotografie ve výtvarném umění a kulturní produkci. Retrospektivní práce se v prostředí vizuální kultury neobejde bez archeologie obrazů. Současní i bývalí studenti ateliéru byli vyzvání, aby pro formát knihy připravili vlastní příspěvky - vizuální eseje, které v knize vytvořily rejstřík paralelních historií a řezů osobními i společnými archivy. Editor knihy Jiří Ptáček se po dobu dvou semestrů stal externím "přísedícím" a procházením dějin fotografického ateliéru a jejich pozůstatků v podobě fotografií i poznatků se snažil rekonstruovat obraz metody, která je v tomto prostředí vyvíjena.
