Zaprvé jen těžko můžeme za novou vlnu označit industriální kapely nebo např. Residents či Birthday Party. A co newyorské kapely, které se výrazem no wave proti new wave přímo vyhrazovaly? Mnohem víc se vžila představa novovlňáků jako fešných mládenců s dlouhými patkami a očními stíny, důležitě se tvářícími za svými synťáky (pravda, v druhé části knihy jich pár najdeme). Zadruhé se dnes běžně hovoří o postpunkovém revivalu - jen stěží by někdo použil výraz novovlnný revival. A není tohle všechno koneckonců jedno? Je jen na vás, jestli držíte v ruce knihu, mapující historii post punku, nebo raději nové vlny.
