Sborník Ecce Homo in Memoriam Jan Fridrich vychází na počest památky zakladatele moderní české paleolitické školy Doc. PhDr. Jana Fridricha, DrSc. (1938 - 2007) a podílí se na něm asi padesátka jeho přátel, kolegů a studentů, nejenom z České republiky, ale také z Německa, Polska, Slovenska nebo Austrálie. Okruh zájmů Jana Fridricha byl neobvykle široký, a tak se mu autoři sborníku rozhodli přizpůsobit alespoň formou a zařazením jednotlivých příspěvků. Sborník tak sestává ze tří tematicky odlišných částí, jež uvádějí krátké vzpomínky nejbližších spolupracovníků Jana Fridricha. První část je věnovaná paleolitu, druhá přírodním vědám a třetí archeologii obecně. Neoficiální čtvrtou část pak tvoří Janova dosud neukončená bibliografie. Dvanáct let po objevu a čtyři roky po odchodu jednoho z autorů, dostává se čtenářům do rukou publikace, věnovaná detailnímu zpracování staropaleolitického naleziště Braškov I a II. Kniha je věnována nejstarší historii Braškova, která se začala psát před neuvěřitelnými 750 000 lety. K objevu sídliště staropaleolitických lovců a sběračů na úpatí kopce Horka došlo při stavbě dálnice v r. 1999. Jejím objevitelem byl Jan Fridrich. Jedná se o lokalitu, potvrzující správnost vyčlenění přezleticienu jako středoevropské facie acheullénu s.l. na území současných Čech. Z naleziště silně postiženého postdepozičními vlivy byla získána velká kolekce kamenné štípané industrie (několik tisíc kusů artefaktů) vyrobené z místního buližníku, která umožnila verifikovat úroveň technologické zdatnosti nositelů přezleticienu v návaznosti na detailně provedenou typologickou a morfometrickou analýzu nalezené kolekce kamenné štípané industrie. Výsledky zpracování inventáře této lokality navíc umožnily podstatně lepší komparaci přezleticienu s nalezišti téhož okruhu v Evropě a na Blízkém Východě. Kniha patří do řady základních publikací věnovaných nejstaršímu osídlení Čech a její vydání postupně naplňuje dlouhodobý záměr pracovníků Laboratoře pro výzkum paleolitu, ArÚ AV ČR Praha, v.v.i., zpřístupnit doklady po životě našich nejdávnějších předků jak odborné tak i mírně poučené laické veřejnosti.

Psal se rok 1905. V centru rakousko-uherské monarchie, ve Vídni, probíhala V. mezinárodní výstava automobilů. Právě zde se zrodila myšlenka uspořádat srovnávací jízdu Vídeň-Vratislav-Vídeň. Zatím se ale nevědělo kudy tato téměř 800 kilometrů dlouhá trasa přesně povede. O konečné podobě turistické jízdy Vídeň-Vratislav-Vídeň a mimo jiné i o detailech vrchařského závodu byli účastníci informováni teprve několik týdnů před jejím konáním. Inspektoři projeli celou trasu a s velkou pečlivostí zaznamenávali průjezdní časy a podmínky na tehdejších silnicích. Cestu přes Mikulov popsali jako kopcovitou, nicméně nepříliš strmou. Dále cesta na Olomouc pokračovala po dlouhých rovných úsecích s několika, blíže nespecifikovanými, kritickými úseky. Pod označením "Bergstraßenrennen" tedy volně přeloženo "závod na horské cestě" zařazují 6 kilometrů dlouhou silnici za Šternberkem, která nabízí uspokojivý sklon vozovky pro tento typ závodu. Termín jízdy v tomto úseku pak naplánovali na 18. května 1905. Dobový tisk tehdy informoval o náročnosti tratě stoupající po úbočí kopce za Šternberkem ve směru na Opavu. Strmý a obtížný profil tratě s pěticí ostrých zatáček žurnalisté srovnávali s průjezdem přes rakouský průsmyk Semmering, jenž již byl v té době významným motoristickým pojmem. Všímá si nové tvorby autorů, kteří byli za minulého režimu umlčeni (Václav Havel, Milan Uhde, Pavel Kohout...) i těch, kteří jím byli s jistým omezením trpěni (Daniela Fischerová, Karel Steigerwald). Nelze opomenout ani popřevratovou tvorbu autorů oblíbených malých divadel (tandem "cimrmanovců" Smoljak-Svěrák, Jiří Suchý ze Semaforu). Mnoho dramatických textů nezanedbatelné úrovně se ovšem objevuje u praktických divadelníků, ať už režisérů či dramaturgů, kteří se etablovali víceméně teprve po změně režimu (Jan Antonín Pitínský, David Drábek, Jiří Pokorný, Miroslav Krobot, Karel Tománek, Jan Vedral, Iva Volánková-Klestilová, David Jařab, Antonín Procházka, Martin Františák...). Nejpřekládanější autorka českých divadelních her Iva Peřinová je spjata s tvorbou pro přední loutková divadla, v jejích šlépějích kráčí i její syn Vít Peřina. Mnohé osobnosti české dramatiky se na veřejnosti poprvé objevily díky radokovské soutěži o původní domácí hru, kterou každoročně iniciuje časopis Svět a divadlo (Lenka Lagronová, Petr Zelenka, Egon Tobiáš, Roman Sikora, Pavel ...
