Je mu celistvým postojem ke skutečnosti, jeho zdrojem je rozum i cit. Stejně tak slovo: je mu nejen slovem psaným, mluveným či zpívaným, ale především prostředkem tvorby. Šimon je alergický na slova "skleníková", touží po ztotožnění, po osobní výpovědi. Proto ho láká hovořit své verše a docela je i zpívat. Je v tom i odmítání cizích mystifikací z interpretace vytváří prvek uměleckého obrazu. V tomto smyslu představuje Šimona právě tato gramofonová deska. Je to - zdá se - experiment. V roce 1979 byl povolán jako řádný profesor pro plastické tvarování a stavbu modelů na Fakultu architektury Technické univerzity ve Vídni, kde působil do roku 2003. K veřejným sbírkám, které vlastní jeho práce, patří Kunstmuseum Bochum, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, Walker Art Center Minneapolis, FRAC Centre Orléans, Lehmbruck Museum Duisburg, Museum Moderner Kunst Vídeň, Neue Galerie am Landesmuseum Graz, Albertina Vídeň a Niederösterreichisches Landesmuseum. V roce 1997 mu uspořádala Národní galerie, Sbírka moderního a současného umění přehlednou výstavu. František Lesák žije ve Vídni a od roku 1990 pobývá pravidelně v Praze.
