Významné dílo světové politické filozofie Člověk a stát od francouzského filozofa Jacquesa Maritaina (1882-1973) vychází z jeho amerických přednášek, shrnutých nejprve do svazku Man and the State (1951) a později vydaných francouzsky pod názvem L'Homme et l'état (1953). Řada myšlenek tohoto klasického díla nabývá právě dnes nové aktuality v konfrontaci s problémy, jimiž se politická věda a politická filozofie zvláště intenzivně zabývá. Na prvním místě je to problém svrchovanosti neboli suverenity ve vztahu ke státu, pro běžného českého občana evokující zejména tzv. Brežněvovu doktrínu o omezené suverenitě, v jejímž jménu došlo k invazi vojsk Varšavské smlouvy, ale která je v kontextu globalizace v samém centru dnešního teoretického promýšlení mezinárodních vztahů, politické sociologie i politické filozofie. Maritainova kritická analýza pojmu svrchovanosti patří k nejpozoruhodnějším ve světové literatuře vůbec. Významné jsou rovněž Maritainovy úvahy o legitimním pluralismu ideových zdůvodnění demokracie, nad nimiž se nyní rovněž zamýšlíme například v reakci na Huntingtonovou koncepcí "střetu civilizací". Maritain zde měl nejen praktickou zkušenost z UNESCO, ale především dobře promyšlenou koncepci. Maritain jakožto "filozof demokracie" pozoruhodně rozebírá problém světové politické organizace, který nás zajímá kupříkladu v rámci diskusí o "evropské ústavě". Poezie a umění tvořily důležitou součást života francouzského myslitele Jacquesa Maritaina (1882–1973). Jeho žena Raissa byla básnířka, měl mnoho přátel mezi umělci a básníky (mj. Ch. Péguy, G. Rouault, M. Chagall aj.). Rozsáhlou a originální část svého filosofického díla věnoval teoretickým otázkám umění. Odpovědnost umělce (1961) je poslední Maritainovou větší publikací z této oblasti; jejím základem byly přednášky na universitě v Princetonu. Po stránce obsahové se v knize Odpovědnost umělce stýkají dvě samostatné disciplíny, filosofická estetika a filosofická etika. Maritain ovšem neřeší obecné problémy estetiky nebo obecné problémy etiky. Vychází ze svébytných pojetí teorie umění a teorie mravnosti a na tomto základě pojmenovává vzájemný vztah obou oblastí.

Recent research has uncovered new evidence of long-distance interactions between Scandinavia and Iberia during the Late Bronze Age. Advances in various lines of inquiry, such as 3D recording of rock art, iconography, metals and amber sourcing, linguistics, and, to some extent, more indirect indications from human remains, as reflected by strontium and aDNA results, have made this possible. The main goal of this book is to cross reference Iberian Late Bronze Age warrior iconography with Scandinavian warrior iconography.
