Během první světové války ji Arthur Conan Doyle zařadil do knihy Poslední poklona Sherlocka Holmese (1917), zřejmě i díky jejímu vlasteneckému podtextu. Později ji zahrnul i do seznamu svých nejoblíbenějších povídek. Čtyři mikrofony, u kterých se střídají herci, kout pro ruchaře a muzikanti strčení v díře... Naposledy se takhle u nás rozhlasová hra vysílala v roce 1948. Retro spojení snad nejklasičtější detektivky a dřevního způsobu natáčení se zdá velmi inspirativní. Vladimír Medek se narodil 1940 v Pardubicích, po studiu zahraničního obchodu na VŠE v Praze žil v Liberci a v Libochovicích, v posledních letech v Novém Boru. V občanském zaměstnání pracoval celý život ve sklářství, původně ve Skloexportu Liberec, později ve Sklounionu a potom v Crystalexu. V letech 1991-96 pracoval ve Španělsku. Zároveň se věnoval překladům beletrie, nejdřív v časopisu Světová literatura, potom knižně. Už v roce 1967 měl to štěstí, že mohl přeložit do češtiny jeden z největších románů 20. století, Sto roků samoty Gabriela Garcíi Márqueze, který od té doby vyšel česky už osmkrát. Následující překlad Cortázarova Nebe peklo ráj ovšem už směl vyjít jen bez uvedení překladatele, poněvadž jako "osmašedesátník" měl až do poloviny 80. let zákaz jakékoliv publikace, s obdobnými postihy i v občanském životě. Ze španělštiny přeložil mj. i knihy Vargase Llosy, Péreze-Reverteho, Carlose Fuentese a v posledních letech řadu dalších Márquezových prací, včetně jeho pamětí Žít, abych mohl vyprávět. Ze svých anglických překladů si nejvíc váží Durrellova Alexandrijského kvartetu. Spolu s bratrem Pavlem překládají příběhy Harryho Pottera od J. K. Rowlingové. V zeleném mládí vydal knížku veršů, další už potom také nevycházely. Sám píše jen málo, zato píše všecko, co sám rád čte, takže ... Unknown localization key: "more"
