Cyklus povídek českých spisovatelů spojený tématem cest - to téma jsme vybrali, protože humanitární pracovníci jezdí pomáhat po celém světě, a navíc budují cesty od člověka k člověku, řečeno vzletně. Projektu se zúčastnilo dvacet jedna spisovatelů od mladých debutantů po čítankové klasiky, od bestseleristů a držitelů Magnesií Liter po tvůrce dnešními čtenáři spíše opomíjené. Jejich autorské honoráře pak zaplatil deník Právo. Jako završení celého projektu jsme se rozhodli vydat soubor Povídek pro Adru knižně, a pokračovat tak v započatém úmyslu - především rozšířit touto cestou povědomí o organizaci ADRA, přispět na její provoz z výtěžku knihy a zároveň dát v reprezentativní formě vědět i o současné české literatuře. ADRA je mezinárodní humanitární organizace poskytující pomoc lidem v nouzi. Byla založena ve Spojených státech amerických před více než padesáti lety a dnes má zastoupení již ve 125 zemích světa. V České republice začala ADRA působit v roce 1992 a postupně se stala jednou ze tří největších humanitárních organizací u nás. ADRA pomáhá jak při mimořádných událostech, tak při uskutečňování dlouhodobých rozvojových projektů. Jejím základním posláním je pomoct lidem k tomu, aby byli schopni převzít kontrolu nad svými vlastními životy. Za dobu svojí existence působila ADRA ČR bezmála ve třiceti zemích.
