Batmana léta sužovaly myšlenky na smrt Tima Drakea, mladého hrdiny, jenž jako Red Robin bojoval po jeho boku. Tim Batmanovi pomáhal sestavit tým, který se spolu s Temným rytířem staral o bezpečnost v Gothamu. Při obraně města však Tim padl. Nebo to aspoň tak vypadalo. Ve skutečnosti byl Red Robin držen v zajetí, kam jej uvrhl záhadný Mr. Oz. Nyní se musí z vězení umístěného mimo čas dostat, nebude se však vracet sám. A za tím vším se vznáší ďábelská kybernetická hrozba, která chce přeměnit Red Robina v ničivou zbraň a tím Gothamu zaručit tu nejhorší možnou budoucnost. Aby sjednotil svůj tým a zachránil město, musí Batman věřit těm, kteří nosí symbol netopýra. Protože ať už nakonec zvítězí nebo prohrají, musí v tom být společně.
