Bohumil "Bob" Krčil, fotograf, dobrodruh a legendami opředená osobnost české exilové kultury, po sobě zanechal autentický životní příběh, formovaný neochvějným odhodláním žít bez kompromisů ve světě rozděleném železnou oponou. Poté co sedmnáctiletý Krčil roku 1969 opustil Československo, pobýval v alternativní komuně na jihu Francie, žil ve vesnici s tuniskými beduíny a zdokumentoval starobylou hašišovou kulturu severoindického údolí Kullu. S předtuchou nadcházející katastrofy vytvořil jedinečné fotografické svědectví o tisícileté kultuře afghánského Herátu, pár měsíců předtím než byl při sovětských náletech v roce 1979 zničen. Základnou se mu stal New York, kde připravil dva rozsáhlé samizdatové sborníky "Sebráno v New Yorku" s cílem ukázat živou a tvůrčí československou komunitu. Z desítek rozhovorů s Krčilovými současníky a z obrovského množství sesbíraných dokumentů Jan Douša sestavil fundovaný a čtivý Krčilův životopis, který se zařadí k dosud chybějícím dílkům v mozaice našeho poznání české kultury 20. století. Obrazová příloha přináší velké množství dosud nepublikovaných vizuálních materiálů včetně řady nových zvětšenin vytvořených Janem Doušou z dochovaných negativů. Kniha "Bob Krčil: Žít, jako by šlo o život" nám přibližuje jedinečnou uměleckou osobnost 70. a 80. let, jejíž přínos české kultuře dodnes není plně doceněn.
