Druhé české beatové album znovu na vinylu. Ani odstup pěti dekád tak rozhodně neznamená konec dobré muziky! Bylo osudem dlouhohrajících nahrávek domácích beatových kapel z roku 1968, že často zachycovaly minulost. Olympická Želva sice nabídla nové personální obsazení, ale repertoár se zčásti vracel do poloviny šedesátých let. Rebels se Šípkovou Růženkou rozloučili se základním triem Čech-Korn-Plíva. A Matadors? V době dokončování stejnojmenného debutu to již uvnitř party vřelo, aby to všechno definitivně vyřešil osudný srpen: v době vydání LP už původní kapela vlastně neexistovala. A přece je to stále zcela zásadní poslouchání, když Matadors byli výbornou kontinentální odpovědí na britské rhythm and blues. Měli ovšem z čeho vycházet: vokalista Viktor Sodoma vládl potřebně razantním frázováním a průrazným témbrem, rytmika Otto Bezloja a Tony Black hrnula muziku nedechovkovitě dopředu, Jan Farmer Obermayer psal stylové písně a dodával stejně stylové klávesové zvuky a ozdobou byl ještě ne dvaadvacetiletý kytarista Radim Hladík, ovládající nástroje i přístroje na špičkové mezinárodní úrovni. Dohromady to byla zahraničními angažmá výborně sehraná kapela s dobře vybraným převzatým repertoárem a hitovkami domácího původu. Je otázkou, kam by se jejich kariéra dále ubírala, ale sovětská invaze to rozhodla. Doma zůstal rockově natrvalo jen Hladík, když Sodoma jako sólista zvolil popovější cestu a zbylí tří Matadoři hned či o něco později našli domov v zahraničí. Naše beatová muzika tak přišla o velké hvězdy, koncem roku nahrazené Blue Effektem v čele s Vladimírem Mišíkem (kdysi také Matadorem) a opět Radimem H. Jubilejní edici se díky grafikovi Karlu Halounovi dostalo nového obalu, když ten zcela původní bohužel není zejména do formátu LP rekonstruovatelný. Ze zásadní sady fotografií Alana Pajera byla vybrána exteriérová barevná, hodně "anglická", včetně ikonického oblečení. On 1 April 1982 the Argentinian junta invaded the Falkland Islands, while the 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment was on leave. Philip Wallis visited South and West Wales several times with his camera between 1961 and 1963 and captured on film a great variety of bus operators in that part of the country. Civic pride was strong and no less than seven municipal undertakings ran bus services in the coal-mining valleys of Glamorganshire and Monmouthshire, while capital city Cardiff and port town Newport each had their own large Corporation Transport Departments, with Cardiff maintaining the only Welsh trolleybus network at that time. Six British Electric Traction group companies operated in the area with fleet sizes ranging from the thirty-four vehicles of Neath & Cardiff Luxury Coaches to 674 buses and coaches with Western Welsh. British Transport Commission-controlled Red & White and United Welsh were significant in parts of the territory, adding variety by still running AEC, Albion, Guy and Leyland buses before sale to the BTC led to standardisation on Bristol buses. The tentacles of the mighty Crosville empire stretched down to Cardigan in far West Wales. Independent operation, using diverse new and second-hand buses, was strong across both industrial South Wales and rural West Wales.This book profiles many of the operators and illustrates their vehicles through 180 colour and monochrome images, mostly previously unpublished.
