Tato kniha vyšla poprvé v USA v roce 1975 a nyní, téměř po padesáti letech vychází poprvé v Evropě, a to v České republice. Pojednává o osudu dvacetiletého amerického muže Alexandra Dolguna, neprávem obviněného ze špionáže.Tento skutečný příběh se odehrává v 50. letech minulého století, kdy Dolgun přijíždí se svým otcem do Sovětského svazu. Otec se smluvně zavázal pracovat v jedné moskevské automobilce. Syn získal práci na americkém velvyslanectví jako řadový úředník. Jenže žít v té době v Sovětském svazu jako cizinec, to nebyl jen tak obyčejný status. Cizinec byl de facto synonymem pro špiona.
