Zabýval se starými literárními památkymi a historickou mluvnicí. Wilhelm Grimm (1786-1859) německý filolog a pohádkář studoval práva v Marburku, kde pak byl soukromým vědcem. Wilhelm Grimm vydal řadu středověkých literárních památek. Arnošt Goldflam (*1946) V roce 1977 absolvoval studium režie na JAMU v Brně. Během studií režíroval i hrál. V současné době působí jako režisér v divadlech v Praze (Studio Ypsilon, Divadlo v Dlouhé, Dejvické divadlo) a Hradci Králové (Klicperovo divadlo), píše divadelní hry, vyučuje na JAMU a příležitostně hraje ve filmu. Pohádky bratří Grimmů prosluly po celém světě. Mezi nejznámější pohádky patří bezesporu například Sněhurka, Popelka, Červená karkulka nebo Jeníček a Mařenka. Ačkoli nynější podoba pohádek se vyznačuje především vítězstvím dobra nad zlem a kouzelnými motivy, původní verze příběhů nebyly často vůbec určené pro děti a „milou“ pohádkovost, na jakou jsme zvyklí, bychom v nich jen těžko hledali… Poprvé byly publikovány ve dvou svazcích, celkem sbírka obsahovala 239 pohádkových příběhů. Je nutno podotknout, že ačkoli jsou bratři Grimmové považováni za autory pohádek, ve skutečnosti se jedná o sbírku příběhů, které už existovaly v ústní podobě a bratři se je takto rozhodli zachránit před zánikem. Pohádky byly zapsány podle tradice, v prvním vydání bylo použito dokonce 10 dialektů německého jazyka. V původních verzích se poměrně často vyskytovalo násilí, sex a temné motivy. Není divu, že pohádky byly několikrát revidovány, aby byly přístupné i pro dětské čtenářské publikum. Mnohé příběhy prošly v průběhu několika desetiletí spoustou úprav, aby vyhovovaly představám o tom, co je pro děti vhodné. V češtině byly poprvé vydány na přelomu 19. a 20. století pod názvem Dětské pohádky: dle sbírky bratří Grimmů.
