The Majority appears rather as a certain model of life which is constant, standard and to which everyone should conform, whereas minorities involve various deviations from the majoritarian way of life. Výpravná kniha o nejslavnějším pražském rodákovi Franzi Kafkovi přibližuje jeho život a dílo všem, kdo chtějí podrobněji poznat jeho svět. Ožívá v ní svět pražské německy psané literatury, svět jeho zájmů, rodiny a přátel a také svět prazvláštních příběhů, nad kterými si dodnes lámou hlavu čtenáři i odborníci na slovo vzatí. Autorem textu je dvojnásobný držitel ocenění Magnesia Litera, básník, překladatel a germanista Radek Malý. Ilustrace vytvořila Renáta Fučíková, přední česká ilustrátorka a držitelka řady tuzemských i zahraničních cen. Srozumitelně a přitom poutavě je představen Kafkův život, jeho rodina, jeho vztah k ženám, ale především jeho přístup k literární tvorbě. Některá zásadní díla jsou představena zhuštěnou formou komiksu (např. povídka Proměna), z jiných děl v knize najdeme nově přeložené ukázky (např. Dopis otci). Smyslem ukázek i úvodních kapitol je ukázat Kafku jako člověka, který byl do značné míry formován okolnostmi své doby, na což se pod sugestivním vlivem četby a mnohačetných interpretací jeho děl zapomíná. Netradičně je též představen Franz Kafka jako člověk všední: sportovec a turista. Kniha klene oblouk až do současnosti, kdy se z Kafky nejednou stala značka výnosného obchodního artiklu. Člověk své a naší doby připomíná nejen tohoto možná nejslavnějšího pražského rodáka, ale také vzácnou kulturní symbiózu, kterou soužití Čechů, Židů a Němců v jednom městě představovalo. Audiokniha:,čte Jiří Ornest Proces je nejčtenější, nejpřekládanější a nejčastěji adaptovaný román Franze Kafky (1883-1924). Kdo nezná Kafkův život, je románem vtažen do nepochopitelného soukolí byrokracie, v němž má vše svůj řád, ale ničeho se nelze dobrat, a zvláště ne spravedlnosti; do tolik známých praktik totalitních režimů, kde genocida a zvůle soudnictví jdou ruku v ruce. Cílem je ponížení člověka. Vzít mu důstojnost a dohnat ho k vlastnímu obvinění, v němž je smrt úlevou a vysvobozením. Tím je zachycen obecně platný princip a tím je také román nadčasový. Kdo však životopis Franze Kafky zná, vidí zde další paralelu – ženu. Šest let trýznivé lásky Franze Kafky s Felice Bauerovou, německou dívkou, se kterou byl Kafka dvakrát zasnouben. První zásnuby byly zrušeny sice na Kafkovo přání v Berlíně roku 1914 v hotelu Askánský dvůr, ale snoubenec se přesto cítil nesmírně ponížen, protože se vše odehrálo veřejně. Byl vystaven „soudu“ před celou rodinou Felice, a to nečekal. Krátce na to, začal psát Proces, svůj první román, který končí větou „Jako pes,“ pravil, bylo to, jako by ho stud měl přežít. Manželství vnímal Kafka jako konvenci – být dobrý, správný muž. Takové pojetí se ovšem vůbec neslučovalo s psaním. Mou jedinou vášní jsou ty moje noční škrabanice, napsal v dopise. Proces je vedle Zámku a Ameriky Kafkovým třetím románem. Ani jeden z nich ovšem nebyl dokončen. Předem je tedy dáno, že hledání významu bude i touto fragmentárností znesnadněno. Nakonec však nezáleží na tom, proč Kafka román napsal, ale jaké osobní poselství nám, každému jedinému čtenáři, předává. (knihydobrovsky.cz)

To není začátek pohádky ani sci-fi románu, ale slavné povídky Franze Kafky Proměna. Probudit se tíhou myšlenek, kdy přesně víme, co nás čeká, je tupý úder. Každodennost povinností, práce, kterou musíme, ale nechceme, i když bez ní nemůžeme žít. Vstát, odejít, dělat přesně to a přesně tam, za tolik a pro toho. Nechci. Ale už nemůžu. Nikam nejdu. Nikdy. Chci jen psát. Radši zavřu oči a nevstanu, anebo se změním v brouka. Takhle si asi představuji, co přimělo Franze Kafku k napsání povídky Proměna.
