Kniha z edice Slavné vily je vůbec první publikací, která se souborně zabývá architekturou individuálního bydlení, osobnostmi jeho projektantů a osudy stavebníků v kraji Vysočina. V kraji proslulém především středověkými, renesančními a barokními památkami, lidovým stavitelstvím, přírodními krásami, rekreačními a sportovními aktivitami. V kraji, kde se narodili nebo působili hudební umělci, architekti, básníci a literáti, z nichž někteří dosáhli světovosti...Avšak i vilové a rodinné domy od pozdního 19. století až po dnešek, které jsou prezentovány padesáti ukázkami, dokládají, že Vysočina reagovala na stylově proměnlivý vývoj tohoto druhu architektury. Ve srovnání s Prahou a Brnem, Královéhradeckým, Olomouckým a Zlínským krajem, kde již od počátku 20. století vznikala centra moderních výbojů, oblast Vysočiny spíše přijímala vlivy zvenčí.
