Tato kniha je výsledkem série přednášek, kterou měl autor v letním semestru roku 1966 na Jižní metodistické univerzitě v texaském Dallasu. Ústředním pojmem přednášek je logoterapie – psychoterapie zaměřená na hledání smyslu lidského života. Frankl zde zdůrazňuje systematickou povahu logoterapie, která předpokládá svobodu vůle, vůli ke smyslu a smysl života. Zaměřuje se na konkrétní logoterapeutické techniky a také na aplikační oblasti logoterapie, jež léčí různé typy neuróz. Logoterapie je kladena do kontextu jiných psychoterapeutických škol a závěrečná kapitola knihy se věnuje i jejímu vztahu k teologii. Viktor E. Frankl (1905–1997) byl profesorem neurologie a psychiatrie na Vídeňské univerzitě a profesorem logoterapie na United States International University v Kalifornii a dalších amerických univerzitách. Je tvůrcem tzv. logoterapie a existenciální analýzy jakožto „třetího vídeňského směru psychoterapie“, který se zaměřuje na hledání smyslu v lidském životě. The study first shows that the idea of man having being created to take the place of fallen angels was introduced by St. Augustine and developed by other church fathers. It then identifies the typical contexts in which the subject was raised by authors of the early Middle Ages, but goes on to focus on the discussion that developed during the twelfth century (Anselm of Canterbury, the school of Laon, Rupert of Deutz, Honorius of Autun), which represents the high point of the theme under investigation, culminating in the assertion that man is an "original" being, created for its own sake, for whom God created the world – a world which together with, and through, man is destined for the heavenly Jerusalem. The question as to whether man would have been created if the angels had not sinned (cur homo) bears a clear similarity to a further controversy, the origins of which also go back to the twelfth century, and that is whether the Son of God would have become incarnate if man had not sinned (cur Deus homo). Next, the book sheds light on how the subject begins to gradually fade away through the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, both within monastic tradition, which nonetheless held onto Augustine's motif, and within scholastic theology, which asserted that man was created for his own sake. The conclusion summarizes the findings and points to the surprisingly contemporary relevance of the foregoing reflections, particularly in relation to the critique that the Swiss philosopher and theologian Romano Amerio († 1997) offers concerning a statement in the pastoral constitution of the Second Vatican Council (Gaudium et spes 24), according to which man is "the only creature on earth that God willed for itself". Druhé české beatové album znovu na CD. Ani odstup pěti dekád tak rozhodně neznamená konec dobré muziky! Bylo osudem dlouhohrajících nahrávek domácích beatových kapel z roku 1968, že často zachycovaly minulost. Olympická Želva sice nabídla nové personální obsazení, ale repertoár se zčásti vracel do poloviny šedesátých let. Rebels se Šípkovou Růženkou rozloučili se základním triem Čech-Korn-Plíva. A Matadors? V době dokončování stejnojmenného debutu to již uvnitř party vřelo, aby to všechno definitivně vyřešil osudný srpen: v době vydání LP už původní kapela vlastně neexistovala. A přece je to stále zcela zásadní poslouchání, když Matadors byli výbornou kontinentální odpovědí na britské rhythm and blues. Měli ovšem z čeho vycházet: vokalista Viktor Sodoma vládl potřebně razantním frázováním a průrazným témbrem, rytmika Otto Bezloja a Tony Black hrnula muziku nedechovkovitě dopředu, Jan Farmer Obermayer psal stylové písně a dodával stejně stylové klávesové zvuky a ozdobou byl ještě ne dvaadvacetiletý kytarista Radim Hladík, ovládající nástroje i přístroje na špičkové mezinárodní úrovni. Dohromady to byla zahraničními angažmá výborně sehraná kapela s dobře vybraným převzatým repertoárem a hitovkami domácího původu. Je otázkou, kam by se jejich kariéra dále ubírala, ale sovětská invaze to rozhodla. Doma zůstal rockově natrvalo jen Hladík, když Sodoma jako sólista zvolil popovější cestu a zbylí tří Matadoři hned či o něco později našli domov v zahraničí. Naše beatová muzika tak přišla o velké hvězdy, koncem roku nahrazené Blue Effektem v čele s Vladimírem Mišíkem (kdysi také Matadorem) a opět Radimem H. Jubilejní edici se díky grafikovi Karlu Halounovi dostalo nového obalu, když ten zcela původní bohužel není zejména do formátu LP rekonstruovatelný. Ze zásadní sady fotografií Alana Pajera byla vybrána exteriérová barevná, hodně "anglická", včetně ikonického oblečení.
