A tak jak archeolog skládá střípky pravěkých nádob, tak já skládám ze střípků vzpomínek jejich osudy a příběhy. Stalo se módou sestavovat rodokmeny. Jenže co komu řekne seznam jmen s daty narození a úmrtí? Větší vypovídací hodnotu mají příběhy našich předků. Pokusil jsem se sepsat několik takových příběhů a doplnil jsem je o osudy vlastní. Snad mi prominete, že jsem tam, kde jsem nenašel historické prameny, povolil trochu uzdu své fantazii. Ale nikdy ne příliš. Jádro příběhu je vždycky pravdivé. Část mého vyprávění jsou příběhy mých předků, včetně pamětí mojí matky – porodní báby – pak moje osobní vzpomínky a potom obrázky z dějin našeho kraje.
