Její největší hity se soulovou duší! Vybírat soulové nahrávky Marie Rottrové je velká radost a trochu starost. Naplnit jedno cédéčko je vcelku rychlá akce, ale mohou zůstat pochybnosti: je tam opravdu všechno nejdůležitější? Paní Marie sama zvolila a sestavila šťastnou jednadvacítku písniček, dokonale představujících její srdeční záležitost: soul, blues, gospel či black dance music. Její ostravské začátky byly pod silným vlivem z Radio Luxembourg poslouchané, na čajích hrané a později v rozhlasovém studiu s kapelami Majestic a Flamingo natáčené černošské muziky. Vydávání na supraphonských singlech i albech jí zjednalo velkou reputaci a vyvolalo přezdívku Lady Soul. Postupně ovšem zčásti opustila tuto skvěle zvládnutou, ale časem přece jen poněkud limitující hudební formu. Soulovost, tedy oduševnělost a procítěnost, však nepochybně přenesla do všeho příštího zpívání, to označení tedy navždy platí. Marie Rottrová, také koncertně a často s někdejším pěveckým kolegou Petrem Němcem, se ráda k tomu repertoáru vrací. Jsou to důležité součásti její úspěšné kariéry, písničky s mohutnou energií, výbornými českými texty zahraničních předloh (V. Čort, A. Brumovská, Z. Borovec, P. Vrba nebo J. Fikejzová) a vydařenými domácími příspěvky z okruhu kapely Flamingo/Plameňáci, ale třeba také z pera Jaroslava Wykrenta. Písničky, jež vždy zaujmou jejím expresivním a dokonale frázovaným zpěvem i značnou dávkou nepředstíraného prožitku. Paní Marie velmi pečlivě vybírala, vy máte šanci stejně pečlivě poslouchat.
